Together with Ralf Berlit, operator of the café, which is extremely popular in the neighbourhood, we set up an after-work event in a relaxed atmosphere and brought together experts, business users and newcomers, enabling them to network and exchange ideas with Tableau users from different business sectors.

Around 35 guests accepted our invitation and were informed and inspired by the lecture program. Michael Pachter, Head of Marketing, and Björn Leffler, Head of Projects, led together through the evening, which was opened by the two M2 managing directors Manuel Mang and Michael Schröer with a short keynote.

Fair Trade coffee and top-class sport

Afterwards, Ralf Berlit, operator of the No Fire No Glory, had a brief opportunity to explain the philosophy behind the café's fair trade concept and to explain why he, too, will be relying on data-based control of his company in the future and why he is pushing ahead with the introduction of tableau as a tool for data visualization.

Guest speaker of the evening was Christian Güttler, founder and managing director of CGoal GmbH and inventor of the now worldwide known Footbonaut, which has been used for several years by Bundesliga clubs such as Borussia Dortmund or TSG Hoffenheim. In his presentation, Güttler vividly demonstrated the possibilities that data visualization offers in the field of top-class sports and what insights can be derived from it.

What’s new in Tableau, what’s new at M2?

Afterwards Martin Schmidt, Business Intelligence Consultant at M2, presented a selection of the new features that Tableau has implemented for the versions 2018.3 and 2019.1. Especially the topic Ask Data was widely discussed.

At the end of the official part, Wolfgang Schult, Technology Lead at M2, Manik Garg, Business Intelligence Consultant, and Björn Leffler presented an M2 proprietary development called Form Builder that functions as a tableau add-on and enables users to enter forecasts and predictions individually on the surface of a tableau dashboard in a comfortable and uncomplicated way and to write them into a corresponding database for further use. A development that opens up completely new options for tableau users and which we are already implementing in a large German media company.

After the presentations shown were discussed and debated in a short Q&A session, guests, speakers and M2 experts took advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas in a pleasant atmosphere.

After the Data Café is before the Data Café...

The first M2 Data Café was a complete success and lasted until late in the evening. No wonder that the next Data Café is already being planned. We will be using this format not only in Berlin, but also in other German cities and are already looking forward to welcoming you there.

On our events page you will find more events and workshops you are welcome to attend.
